Goodbye Vietnam

What an amazing and unforgettable experience Vietnam has been. I've never been so immersed in contradictions. Expensive land, with only a shed on it. Millions of inexpensive scooters surrounding a Ferrari. Although there is a huge chasm between the haves and have not's, the people in general are what makes Vietnam, for me, a place I'd like to revisit. As an American, you can't think of Vietnam without thinking about the war. It is fascinating how quickly the Vietnamese have improved their perspective of Americans following a confusing war that damaged so much. Yet many Americans still think Vietnam is a war and not a country. It's the persistence and sheer determination that is apparent in everything the Vietnamese do. Thanks for the memories and I hope to be back soon.
